AWARENESS

There always has been a poet, Somewhere deep inside of me I never met him/her, still I know it T'was always sensed, subconciously At certain moments in my life, This poet stirred, began to write Almost always there was strife, Almost always late at night These poems just poured out of me Not in pieces, but as a whole A meter too, was now set free And there I was with no control I never knew what I would say I only knew it dealt with strife For when I read it the next day One issue less, was in my life This secret friend does mostly good This secret friend is not a fraud Always respectful, as I should For she/he must be tied to God There is one small development, That's building up inside of me An awareness I must vent, If my poet's still to be I've finally come to realize, A pettiness I can't avert If anyone does criticize, I almost always feel hurt This is something that's amiss This is something I must alter My poet offers me such bliss I'd be a fool. if now I falter Because these poems that we write, Guide both our lives, so we may thrive I'll dig down deep into insight I'll keep my friend in super drive My ego's fighting what I cherish It's good for me, what now is known What I must do, so we can flourish, Is write for me and me alone This poet's still inside of me As far as friends, this one's the best May he/she remain, forever free I am so happy and so blessed
