Autumn Dry morning sky weighing on a sleepy city Hiding the sun with its charcoal cloak Puffy winds hurrying down deserted streets Blowing by spooky houses and scary trees Swaying ageless trees imploring the sky Stretching their limbs for an impossible embrace Twisted branches attempting to hold their foliage Hopeless in fear to resemble lonely skeletons Golden leaves endlessly swirled around Fluttering down in a last summer dance Like wings of gold dying laughing Firing earth with gold and red Sadness of a year that soon will have gone Soon erased by hopes of a new spring to come And promises to see earth anew Finally erupting from the frozen soil Yesterday was summer and today is fall |
