Macchapuchre Chattering teeth in the blue morning Questioning eyes staring at the blank of a screen On memories of promises and mystique On secret hopes of discerning the holy peak Our petrified expressions lightened with bliss When suddenly high in the mist Slowly tearing off its silver veil It appears in a wrap of sacred white velvet Like a shy god or an antique pyramid Or sometimes more like a threat Removes its hood and casts an eye Over our desperate insignificance Slowly but with absolute confidence Helped by a godly puff of wind Undraping from its celestial cloak Its broadness defies and provokes Standing proud in its purity Glorified in its nude virginity Intrigue of a never reached summit By a multitude already wanted We are bowing in a respectful reverence Satisfied by the majestic appearance Blissful eyes and camera shutters Capture the instant before it falters Greeting the holy and magnificent Mount Macchapuchre |
Additional Notes:
Mount Macchapuchre is a sacred mountain in Nepal, within the Anapurna range. It has never been climbed. I wrote this poem after I came back from a trek in Nepal. I was very impressed by the grandeur and peacefullness of the scenery. Hope you all like it.
