Full Metal Jacket

Cautiously stalking the perimeter of your heart,  I maneuver for a vantage point to assess your mood. You stand sentry at the gates of your domain while I wave my white flag a safe distance away. Your guns are locked and loaded, bitter barbs that leave me feeling stung and humiliated. The ammunition used is your words and wit, and the cavalier way in which you dismiss me. Defending the fortress that surrounds your soul, it's artillery trained at those who approach, you live your life isolated and alone, for fear of suffering some mortal wound.
