TEARS OF A WILLOW

'Neath the branches of the sequestered willow tree Extended outward and downward like a canopy  Lies a story of hidden intrigue and technique Under the graceful crown of leaves unique. A broadleaf masterpiece the aquatic well refreshes Betwixt and between the trunk the spring progresses, Plant tissue layered and wrapped like lovers' arms Hugging the recipients of their charms, Intricate tale woven on a midsummer's morn, A shelter, a haven in the storm When moist wet kisses not resisted Spun baskets of secret twigs well twisted. Willow, are you weeping for all lovers to see Or are you weeping only in my fantasy? In the luster and splendor of our Maker's art, Must I be a willing counterpart Of this tearful reverie within my heart Which still weeps for comfort of calescent mystery,  The magic and wonder of the weeping willow tree.
