for e.e. cummings

o mister e, o mister e, cumming and cumming in glorious bursts across the page with beauty nigh on to numbing, defunct you be but gather still no moss. suffering not pretentious fools, applauder of the simple man with spirit battered, they fought you to make him cannon fodder. it's quite clear you really knew what mattered. but most, a lover for all place and time of beings, bodies, spirits, souls, and minds. with words so gracious, hardly needing rhyme, we glimpsed your loves, you showed us your true finds. if there be heavens, black red roses bow to you in dooms of love from those here now.

Additional Notes:
For me, E.E. Cummings is one of the greatest poets ever. Those of you familiar with his work will recognize that this homage copies his style of no capitalization and includes some recognizable phrases from his work such as: "defunct you be" "gather still no moss" "black red roses" "dooms of love" These are, of course, there in his honor. Also, the line "they fought you to make him cannon fodder" refers to his service in the ambulance corps during World War I. If you are unfamiliar with E.E. Cummings, I highly recommend that you check out his work sometime... it's absolutely incredible!
