CAN YOU BELIEVE

You know, I practice what I preach You know, I do the things I teach So, all I say I do believe So, in no way do I deceive Untangling all the webs I weave This works for me, as I perceive So, if you'll try the things I do Perhaps, you'll find a way that's new A way that heals and works for you A way that helps to get you through It's not to say that I'm so bright But I believe I've some insight I know, for sure, what's wrong or right I know, to "cure", you'll have to fight BELIEVE in me - a seed you'll sow BELIEVE you can - success will flow BELIEVE you will - and then you'll know BELIEVE in you - then watch you grow So, you too can practice what you preach You'll help yourself, and then "you'll" teach

Additional Notes:
I formed a poetry seminar for "hard-core" drug and alcohol abusers. I began each new group by sharing this poem. My fantasy, that poetry may open new avenues to their subconscious; giving them new ways to fight back and "finally" succeed. One year, some glorious success (at least temporarily). Mostly not. My pay, the touching poems that they wrote from "sooo" deep in their souls.
