Innocent Hearts

They had it all, they had it made But for their innocence of love they paid. It wasn't him, it wasn't her Their hearts were innocent, clean and pure. She loved him so, and her heart was true And neither knew that love could be so cruel. She opened up her all to him The flaw was not hers, but it did not belong to him. He did not mean to break her heart He loved her too, from the very start. She offered him what she thought all boys expect But he turned her aside for her respect. Neither told each other their thoughts Neither said what each other sought. She was hurt by his rejection This she told me in her confession. It saddened me when he told me too That for her, his love was also true. They loved each other this I feel is true The sadness is that neither knew.

Additional Notes:
This poem is meant to portray the innocence and heartbreak that young lovers often are subjected to for their lack of knowledge of how to express their love for each other
