Landscapes of Brutality

The sun also sets o'er yonder Signaling the impending dark And the question seldom pondered Is the one I shall embark. Why is it that we're so blind Why is it we seldom see Why is it that we're so unkind As to paint landscapes of brutality. Our eyes search the horizon far But nothing do we see Yet we wish upon that twinkling star That cast its light on the sea. A sea of pain do we create A sea of misery But when the paint dries it's much too late To hide our landscaped brutality. And on this sea we place one lonely boat In the midst of hungry sharks And as the sailors aboard gain new hope We paint their blue sky dark. Then in pastels we sign our name So everyone can see Who's responsible, who deserves the fame For such landscapes of brutality.
