Their God I Do Not Know

Their god I do not know For he's a god of war A god who requires his patron saints' Own blood above their doors. And each other's blood they also shed For nothing more than faith They persecute one another Out of senseless hate. Their god they do not know For all their gods the same The Jews, the Christians, and Moslems Each call him different names. But the fighting still continues And thus the killing too The blood of old and of children To their god is due. Their god I will not know Too blind a faith's required So I'll remain a "sinner" In life's mud and mire. And when death's angel comes for me To hell I'll gladly go And if that's the price I'll have to pay Their god I'll never know!
