Smile

With no place to go  and nothing more to do,  morale at ebb tide low.  What have I to look forward too.  I’ve carried the banner.  I’ve climbed the mountains high.  I’ve witnessed the world change  in all manner.  Now that it’s all said and done.  Is it really time to say goodbye.  The doctor told me it’s just old age.  Others say, you’ve had a good run.  These well meant comments leave  me enraged.  I’ll write my prose and  sing my songs.  I’ll laugh and cry  till the day I die.  Then they can all  tell a little white lie,  and say…  "Hey, what a great guy!"  Smile.
