Evenings Host

I desire crisper air and lung polluting nicotine Exiting the enclosed chamber, I fall into the evening green As my nostrils grasp for smoke, I inhale the anxious slips Allowing concentration broke to flow languidly through my lips My eyes adjust to a horizon becoming darkly surrealistic My mind dismisses any thought that borders being pessimistic Nothing round to belie or squelch the silence brazenly Just myself and cooling skies with the smoke drifting lazily My solitude is soon disturbed as my glance is quickly spared A great horned owl seems unperturbed as my calm is soon shared  Far away, unblinking eyes deeply penetrate my frail skin Captured prey I want to cry, “So, you do know where I’ve been!” Defiantly my fix gets tossed as sparks leave in mortal anguish Anger’s hidden fury is lost during cigarettes extinguish I bend my neck to tall tree level and view his magnificence He does not move his domination over my purveyance  The hesitation becomes tranquil, and I ponder if he daunts My once private sanctuary as his never-ending haunt I study with quiet awe struck fervor this majestic king of birds Soon my thoughts are lead to wisdom without hearing but one word Pulling cancer from my pocket I debate retaliation When the silent virtuoso calls down from sheer observation Daring independency, I melt more into my self’s own While smoke non-reluctantly encompasses him and I alone As he watches non-chalet, I empty needs of unfound challenge Appreciating this gallant who steadies evenings unbalance Content by my acknowledgement, he flies into his unknown And the chambers confinement again becomes my very home
