Quietly Going Insane

I'm sitting on a rock,  in the middle of an open plain. I'm wondering how it feels,  to quietly go insane. They'll be no band playing,         no big fan fare. No one seems to notice,  no one seems to care. "You haven't the brain's    to come in from the rain!" My mother's words, keep  spinning 'round my brain. Maybe she was right?  I guess I'll never know... As deeper and deeper,  into myself I go. Sticks and stones, and words can't hurt,  at least that's what some say. Yet, broken hearts and broken bones,   don't heal the same way. Are those tear drops falling,  or has it just begun to rain? As I sit on a rock,  and quietly go insane.

Additional Notes:
If after reading this you feel the rhythm changed alittle in the next to last verse, not only am I aware of the slight change, but I intended it that way. You will also notice I resumed the regular rhythm at the end. This was intentional. Thank you and I hope you also get the intended humor , although I was very near a nervous breakdown when I wrote this piece. There's no humor in that however...
