Beams of Light Through a knot hole in the old barn roof, streams a small sun beam. Dust particles gleam and dance as they float un-tethered in the stale barn air. Setting cross legged on the dirty floor, is a boy of six, playing out his day dreams. Time has no meaning, he really doesn’t care. His ragged shirt torn and tattered. One knee protruding through a jagged tear. He titles his head side ways, as he rocks back an forth in a perpetual motion. He continuously hums in a low manic tones. His big blue eyes fixed in a curious gaze. Peering up at the dancing dust locked in the descending sun beams. His thoughts wanders in a strange cruel maze. His young mind trapped in allusions and mystifying dreams. He’s lost in rhyme, and lives in another world and time. He doesn’t notice the heavy chain around his leg. He will never cry or beg. The beams of light keeps him mesmerized and quiet. |
