The Reward

A feeling has come over me A feeling that I get To live my life The life I know, The one that I was meant. The time has come for my reward For a life that has been spent Deprived of passions’ fury Denying all my needs. And in its place was duty For choices that I’d made. You lock the door on passion,  You lock the door on dreams, Never to be opened, You’re sure you lost the key. The doors they are so many Your needs Your hopes Your dreams It’s best they be forgotten So you hide them knowingly. So what to do? You cease the search And live the life you chose. Abandon all your passion, Abandon all your dreams, And try to live a cheerful life With just a little peace. But deep inside  You know the truth It nags you every day. This truth it hunts you eagerly And waits for you each day. Then comes the point  Where you do say, To live is just to die. It’s then you know, You know for sure You must get out alive. So here I go, To a place that’s new A new land to explore. I know not yet, But here is my reward. A reward for what? I hear you say And this is what I say, A reward for hiding passion Because of others  needs, A reward for self restraint  In times of desperate need. So here he comes, my just reward My precious and my prize. Oh yes you see, it is a man, A man is my reward. A man so full of passion He makes me feel alive. Alive with all these feelings, The ones that I chose to hide. There are oh so many places  That I’ve never been before And this is where he takes me Many places we explore. If words could say the joy this brings Of this I would convey, I have no words to tell you I’m sorry I must say. All that I can tell you  Is this man that’s come to me He is the sum of everything Everything I need
