The Little House

the little house that sits by the huge oak tree always seem to amaze me. it's old, the paint is gone, and all broken down the family that once loved it, is nowhere around. the windows are all covered with rusty tin the little porch is rotten and has fallen in. I can still see an old lady putting on her clothes going into the kitchen to put wood in the stove. the children are still in bed , but not asleep They want to get up but it's too cold to their feet. so they will stay there til the house gets hot then they will get up and find their favorite spot around the  heater til they can feel the heat. they will stay there until it't time to eat. sometimes things hard, and it was really rough But as they looked to the Lord, they always had enough. I see an old man, doing the best that he can He gets us early, way before the sun While they are still asleep, his day has begun together they have loved, laughed, hurt and cried They live a grateful life until they died the children had children of their own they left for the city to make their home the old house just there so sad the paint is gone and it looks bad But the memories never grew old they are timeless and worth more than gold For in that little house that sits by the huge oak tree holds the dearest, sweetest memories for me
