Silence as deep as the night

All right' a car ride" I love car rides" . Why are we stopping? This smells like the vet."     THE NEXT DAY Surely they wouldn,t leave me?? Where am I?What did I do?" "I know, this is like before,  when they left me in a cage  with those other people who  fed me for a while till they came back." They will come get me soon." It sure does seem I,ve been here a long time." Haven,t eaten any shoes lately so whats my crime??  Moose, the bernard next door, doesn,t make any sense. Says he was sent here to die, for jumping the fence. Peewee the chiuahua ,in the cage cross the way Says they brought home a baby ,in his place to stay Muffen the spaniel here longest of all  Boy is he lucky  He just got a walk down the hall. MOOSE quit your howling ,you got the cats yowling.. PEEWEE quit singing,that songs got my head ringing. WHAT OH WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL??? Silence as deepest as the darkest of night then descended. The air was so tense and much fear ascended. I don;t know whats wrong here ,I can,t possibly see" what evers the matter ,but you,ve scared hell outa me. Seconds stretched to minutes and hours till dawn. Then  suddenly I realized that muffin was gone.  Old timer ,listen .Its time that you knew why you are here and what you can do. You have a home no longer and are sentenced to death. Unless the people who stroll here hearts you impress. NO I WON;T LISTEN what your sayings untrue. My people love me as them I do too. I was the first pup to live there ,the first one to cuddle. Then I helped them to raise all of their others. I took them romping into the woods. I took the blame when they weren,t so good. STOP Moose told  me .my times at the end and the heartlessnes of man you don;t yet comprehand. As I looked into Mooses brown eyes, I saw the truth and started to cry. The door swung open at the end of the hall     My cellmates started jumping and howling in vain All of us singing out Mooses name.    Moose did he cower .when she called him come hither It broke my heart, to see him in fear quake and shiver. I do have to say his last walk, he went fighting. But mainly in fear,with no growling or biting. silence as deep as night then descended.          LAST DAY AND THOUGHTS I wait-days have gone by and my family has not returned for me. I am so scared and lonely so lonely for the people I love. They don;t want me anymore.-I have been the best dog I could  I wanta go home and feel them scratch my head and  maybe get a tidbit at dinner.Oh well its my time to take a walk    Peewee got lucky .He said goodbye yesterday.He is still young and begged really good in puppyish bounds .A home he found. As for me ,I;m to old and don;t really care .Its for my family that I despair. The door at the end of the hall just opened.Its a girl  she reminds me of my peoples third pup. Well she is putting on the leash, I think I,ll pull her and hurry this up. I sure would like to go outside once more and find a deep pond and jump in.I wonder if my family still thinks of me? Who is that man?He don;t smell nice.HEY PUPPY COME BACK, Listen all the dogs are howling goodbye GOODBYE TO YOU TOO I HOPE YOU FIND HOMES .Ouch that pinched  NO not in there P--lease its cold and dark pl--ea--se  n--o It is to dark and I wanta see the sun no   tired s--o t-ir-ed silence as the blackest of nights then descended
