Memories of a stallion He stands in the darkness of his stall with head hanging low in sleep the only peace he knows he will have this day Soon the shedrow will be alive with the bustling sounds of grooms at work He charges the front of his doorway With ears pinned back and teeth bared He wants to get out run and play but he knows That he shall have no joy on this glorious morning His groom will beat him back and toss the tack upon his back in a most hurtful way the rider will beat him with his stick then jerk the bit painfully in his mouth So in fear does he start weaving as he waits He will bite anyone he can reach The hotwalkers and other hands know to stay far away for he will draw blood If they were just to understand that he must be this way, so he will be left alone He is a racehorse and a winner but he hurts and is fearfull of hurting more and so he has found his way to endure This is dedicated to Shear practice the meanest horse in the barn But he and I became best friends I became his groom when others were to scared of him he always remained nasty to the world but we trusted each other and I would even sleep in the stall with him.I never hit him. |
