Beauty To Me

When I met you I could see it, Like a puzzle just complete; A ray of light through darkened skies That shines upon my feet. You did not know it happened, But I knew that day it did. You changed my whole perspective On how in life to live. So I made a point to know you, And in time you too knew me. We fell in love and kindness And flew our spirits free. We grew old through the hard times, And stayed young through the good. Sometimes you thought I’d leave- Still I knew I never  would. And now you watch the sunset, Though I intern watch you. I tell you that I love you, Your reply is that you knew. So I chose to say it softly; As the sky began to fall; The words that I had always used To get me through it all: You may not be the sunrise, Its charms are undefeat’, And you may not be the flowers That dance in summer heat. You may not be the rainfall, That splashes through the trees. Or the leaves so bright that paint the air And catch the autumn breeze. You cannot be the moonshine, And I know you’re not the sea, But one thing love I still believe, Your are beauty to me.
