On trail We lost all,, hope and caring . Due to our open hearts and sharing. Our sons now grown and on their own, we ourselves despairing. A dream ,A mere desire ,to save our souls from dying for a future to unfold ,contentment, being our final goal A step we took ,with one final look at all we had to gain. So we packed our bags and hiked a trail to a new terrain. The morning sun, with its warming rays said, we must be on our way. My puppy silently agreed with me,in her puppy groan. That this day, I;d rather have the heat of a nice warm home. But alas our driving force ,in this world so new, forced us out of our tent in a way much like a shrew. I must admit to his credit ,the coffee ,it was hot even though ,getting out the tent happy we were not! The sky grew dark and fearfull, in worry we tredged on but when the birds grew silent, we knew the day was done we found a shelter on the trail ,and there, did we make camp then thunder filled our ears and we broke our only lamp The night it was no picnic ,in terror did I lay . But the morning dawned into a brand new day. I can not say twas better as the world was now pure white. We had also lost our matches so you can guess our blight. But thats another story for another time cause I am growing weary of making all this rhyme. |
