Loves Chleation In your eyes, did I perceive, A love complete that would not leave, To fill up all the emptyness? Too much much to ask of one I guess. For love is not a one way street And lack won't make me incomplete. So while I worshiped at your feet, You stepped upon my heart. Took for granted, my affection. Practiced, unengaged perfection. You did not love, you don't know how. Cannot commit, not then not now. How did I let you in so deep? Old memory fresh, it does not sleep. And I admit, sometimes I weep. It still tears me apart. A lesson learned, for future reference. Be careful who you chose, your preference. For words too easily are broken, And memory, just a rusted token. A souvenier of loves chelation. That ended with my hearts cremation. But not my endless self damnation. Time, for a new start. |
Additional Notes:
This is a very different poem for me, feels somewhat disjointed yet I think it reflects the feelings I was trying to convey. It felt right for the piece.
