GOD FIRST

I stood at the gates of heaven Awaiting my turn to go in Instead I was handed a parchement That listed each one of my sins. I did not perceive the reason  For God said he would forgive Why were my sins still posted? When I prayed each night that I lived. As I stood at the portals trembling My heart overflowing with pain I looked at the list more closely It appeared each sin was the same. I knew in a moment of clarity Why the gates were not open to me While striving for earthly treasures God was not my priority. Each night when I prayed for forgiveness And vowed to atone for my sins The next day I seized every moment To build up my treasures again. God never recanted his promise I was guilty of not doing my part No matter how busy my schedule I must keep God first in my heart.
