Saved for Sunny

The bottle high upon the shelf      sat undisturbed and dusty. Like vintage wine that some folks keep      in cellars, damp and musty. For more than twelve long years it lay;      deemed unfit for brief affair. Undetected by the masses -      'though some knew it rested there. A few who spied the aging thing,      and desired 'just a taste'; Were cautioned by the dangerous height -      of the shelf that bottle graced. And so it stayed for all that time,      increasing as it aged; Yet mellowing too as it matured;      trapped in its crystal cage. And then one day a gentle hand      takes down the strange display. The same hands that so long ago,      had hidden it away. He fingers the familiar flask      and wipes it clean of dust. Now prudence has him wondering -      if he should, these feelings trust? Should he at last decant the wine      and loose its sweet bouquet? To undo and to liberate,      this thing steadfastly saved? He vacillates for one full week,      uncertain what to do: Then frees that vial of 'pent-up love'...      to share with only you!

Additional Notes:
A true story that Sunny still enjoys; although it only vaguely resembles the original version written in 1990.
