Reflections from an Old Mirror

In the mirror I see sights of England, with it's beckoning hills of verdant green. My mind is wandering back to a time I remember, though I was just fourteen. Quaint pubs, punting on the Cherwell River, old castles and those famous fish and chips, these things remain strong in my memory, along with oceans and tall sailing ships. Stop, you say: "Why should we be looking back, we're living after the year two thousand. The past has gone by us, times are changing, and so is your precious little island." No, we must reflect on what's behind us, while forever pressing toward our goal, memories are a mirror recalling lessons that are imprinted in our soul. Will all the changes cause forgetfulness, and along with it poetry be lost, Communication and delightful words be forever buried in permafrost? Will reality and the abstract world be confused by using electronics? Can a human arm really be replaced by some scientist using bionics? With each step forward do we take two back, and let our poetic souls slip away? Without our mirror, new things can harm us, and for our forgetfulness we will pay. So, through hopes and dreams we "remember when", "for the good times" we struggle and labor. This is not done by electronic means, it is done by love of God and neighbor.
