One More

One more teen has fallen One more friend I've lost Maybe his soul felt heaven callin' And his life was the cost One more of my angels gone One more sweet spirit ascending Death is as cold as dew drops at dawn And this brings pain unending One more swallowed by the alcohol sea One more captured by its raging river These constant demises killing pieces of me And my body shakes, my lips quiver One more tear I'll shed today One more set of memories I'll lay to rest Forever wishing this sad day away And deep down knowing it's all for his best

Additional Notes:
I wrote this poem after the wake of yet another young friend I lost during my senior year two years ago. We lost 9 friends that year to drug and alcohol related crashes. This particular friend had lost his parents years before in seperate alcohol related crashes and that is the only reason I end the poem saying "it was all for his best".
