In Dreams You Come - A Sonnet My lids close tight, steady becomes my breath, Darkness envelopes me in welcome arms, My being gives to temporary death, Unable to resist seductive charms. Then, through a haze, you mistily appear, You come to me, we lovingly embrace, Your very self - your smell, your taste - is clear, Our bodies and our spirits interlace. Into your eyes, like windows, I can see, Without a word your innards they convey, I try to open them, but have no key, As quickly as you'd come, you melt away. My lids begin to flicker, I awake, When, once again, 'tis dark more dreams I'll make. |
