Wait upon His time

I was home the other day just a worshipin' and prayin' When I heard the phone a ringin' off the wall After my hello I heard a voice I used to know It had been so long, I wondered why he called Soon I realized that the voice I recognized Sounded different in so many ways When I asked how he'd been, he said he still battled sin But he tried to honor Jesus everyday While we were on the line my mind went back in time To the day that our friendship had to end He wanted sex with me yet he wanted to be free So I walked away and said goodbye, my friend I said, if you can't offer love, love that pleases God There is no way that we could ever be Our love is not the same, I don't play the devils game I got Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ has me I prayed in anger and with tears giving Jesus all my fears That this man I loved, I'd never see again Then Jesus said to me, "With Me, anything can be". Your trust in Me ensures a perfect end Then the voice on the line brought me to the present time When I heard him say the truth had set him free He said his old ways are dead, he now has Jesus instead And God said that he could once again call me He asked if we could start again, start off as friends But he warned that he had marriage on his mind My heart jumped with joy, God gave me back that boy Because I trusted Him and waited on His time I'm telling this to you because God loves you too And he wants you in body, soul and mind He answers every prayer and He'll prove He really cares When you trust in Him and wait upon His time You won't always get your way, what you ask for when you pray For He opens and closes different doors But if you pray for His will, let it go and remain still Be assured you have a better life in store
