Because We Are Men

Some of us pee in the shower. Some of us even blow our nose      in the shower. There are even some of us who           don't put the toilet seat down. Who are we? We are the men that go off to war, to fight for your and our rights. Sometimes we go off to war, to find a buddy, to connect, or      to gain an adventure. And others of us go because we are told to go -      or else! We are killers. We are warriors all      because we are men. We are the sons, the fathers, the brothers, and the husbands. We learn from out fathers, to kill, beat, and rape      the women that bore us. "Tails, and snails, and puppy dog tails", that's what little men are made of"      so goes the old nursery rhyme. Who will write a new one? A new poem or nursery rhyme      that tells a new story? That most men are gentle, and kind, and loving,      and who are far removed from their counter parts; But then again will go to war, for the right cause, and      for the women they love. "When will they ever learn?" a folk song by Pete Seeger intones,      has not yet been learned. Because we are men!
