Time

When I was young my past was small I gave no thought to time at all But as I grew my past accrued Leaving only memories to hang on to Though each breath formed a larger past My present seemed to always last Time promised nothing as I recall As I followed life's bouncing ball Disguised as life's storage place Time slipped by at a steady pace Here though never hanging around It came and left without a sound Memories piling high and wide Testify that time passed by Some to share, some to hide Some bring smiles, others make me cry  Many yesterdays have come and gone For my present, I had no grip on Time swept me through many seasons Through carelessness then on to reason In my younger days, I saw no mission What the future held, I would not listen  As time ushered in my older days I knew I had wasted it in many ways Though my present seemed to always last Now my future is smaller than my past Bitersweet this endless thought That who I was, I now am not    Much older now than when I was small Each breath delays death's inevitable call Though I have regrets time served me well For the best news yet I have to tell I'll bid farewell to this time I've known And I'll be free from all I've sown I have no fear beyond the grave  For I met Jesus and was saved My hope fulfilled, with Christ I'll be With Him for all eternity I'll slip into God's time zone When this time leaves me all alone

Additional Notes:
I wrote this many years ago. I know except for the last eight lines it could be anybody's words. Everyone has their own private memories from the past and their own beliefs about the future...beyond the grave. But this is my story and it will be my ending. Thanks for letting me share it.
