A Mid-South Night's Dream

Sweet summer night, velvety black, Gardenia scented air, wending down an old country track, soft whinny of a mare. Kudzu's quiet tenacity, hidden when I first gazed. By an old gents veracity, much later still amazed. Fallen grapes starting to ferment, musky breeze blowing soft, time frozen for just a moment, stored like hay in the loft. The earth opened it's sleepy eye, on a morning dreamy. The sun slowly ascending high, turning the day steamy. Soft calls of whipporwill and dove, greeting a bright new day, and the place I'd find my sweet love, the Alabama clay. My heart and soul satiated, with youthful enchantment, peaceful scenes initiated, feelings of contentment. The trip into yesteryear went from Memphis headed south, emotions looking for a vent, serenity stilled my mouth.
