A Day In The Life

Good morning -- I'm leaving, I'll see you tonight. Here're three hungry faces, Be good, now, don't fight. He's up and he's out, It's the six o'clock call. There's oatmeal, there's waffles, I run with the ball. Turn off the t.v., Brush your teeth, brush your hair, The school bus is coming, Find something to wear. The laundry is piled, in hazardous heaps, I vow to make headway, in great bounds and leaps. But there's vacuuming, cooking, and errands to do, And right now I just  need a mate for this shoe. Cereal, OJ, diapers and bread. "Where are my glasses?" My kids point to my head. To the bathroom, we're dashing, a record, you see. Today we have made it past aisle number three. I'm learning there's not much a Band Aid can't heal, and that heartburn and laughter, are just part of the meal. Or you need not be gazing for visions of mars, just step on a Lego, if you want to see stars. "Eat all of your veggies," "Be nice to your brother," Wait...this is my husband, And I'm not his mother. But my eyes become daggers, My stance starts to sway, When I hear him ask sweetly, "What did you do today?"
