time shift

Second thoughts have taken a second glance and left me -  floundering in a puddle of our history. Something akin to heartbreak shackled to my every thought - scraping my resolve raw. Butterflies in my head, a fellow named Dread my new best friend. Slogging forward -  only to be dragged backward spiraling through yesterday to stand on quicksand and slowly melt. Again. Ripped from my future by a certain smile -  bound to another by a tether of platinum and ice while careening around the bend. Spinning on the dizzy edge stopping on a dime - a vision of you standing out in a crowd.
