Shoes

Today feeling the need to celebrate myself I ransacked my closet and tossed out shoes. Brown shoes, black shoes, blue suede shoes, boring shoes.  Shoes with stiletto heels that wobble when I walk. Shoes to break a heart in. Shoes to break a leg in. Shoes for women with square feet, pointed feet, deformed feet, reformed feet. I threw out boots, too with long zippers and stack heels. And Reeboks made for running. Running from? Running toward? I am running too fast already. It's time to walk.  To take small steps. To explore, to touch life with bare toes. Now, all that's left on the floor of my closet are my own two feet. Feet that look beautifully worn. Ten toes, painted nails, perfect feet perfectly outfitted for life's journey without shoes.
