Roots and Foliage My roots were not well tended, Therefore, my trunk, not so strong. For now it's folly to expect the branches To be beautifully leafed, as I long. How to compensate For the physical challenge of roots weak? Perhaps the Gardener holds the truth, This answer for which I seek. My roots are deeply buried, Their deformities unknown. Humans are disappointed in this tree, Always in such sick barrenness shown. Oh, with the others, to don the green, green gown, To playfully toss adorned branches in the breeze, To be unconcerned about past roots, To simply, joyfully be trees! |
Additional Notes:
Gardener is capitalized intentionally.
