Mountain Song

The mountains, they are calling me, With voices grand and proud. To look down upon the tops of trees, And walk amoung the clouds. The sunrise shining through the trees, Make shadows long and tall. As forest life begins to stir, An eagle sounds his call. Spring wildflowers in full bloom Show off their color fair. The pine trees send their freshness forth To scent the mountain air. The river's rushing downward towards It's final destiny. It leaves behind a misty spray In the air surrounding me. The sunset lights the sky on fire And brings a final peace, As campfires cast their shadows out To dance among the trees. The mountains, they are calling me, A constant beckoning - From peaks that seem to touch the sky, And make the angels sing.

Additional Notes:
This poem was written in anticipation of selling my house in the South, and moving back to the mountains in Colorado.
