Reflections, On the Death of a Friend

I wish but to have a moment, no more, To pray hand in hand, to love and adore. I miss ne'er a day to rest at your side, To dream of your peace, yet hoping to hide, My soul, lost in time, will always you be, With mem'ries I hold, forever with thee. Then came there that morning, just as you said, A walk with our Lord, to follow, He led, To dawns nudging darkness, gently awoke, To dusks yawning sweetly, dearly you'd note, These we can share ev'ry day that will pass. I am glad to words at last am knowing, And with a sigh, sit smiling I, trowing.
