Flight

The skies sing the wonders of blue reflected off the cornflowers far below. Wispy light clouds bracket an eagle, wings outstretched to ride up a thermal draft. He watches intently, searching for his prey.  Lower down, a robin complains loudly, guarding his territory with wing, claw and song. Defeated a cuckoo wings away, looking for another nest. Unseen, the eagle watches her path, clearly considering an attack. Winds dance gently over quiescent waves roughing the placid surface, whispering moistly through outstretched boughs of pine and oak dallying, before moving on to brush the mountain’s top. Staring up, I join the eagle in his flight soaring high above the lake, wheeling free spinning about in joy, climbing the wind’s tail.  I never even feel the rapist as he sets to work.
