Candle

Lost, confused, why? I can't think... Running away... From what? L I F E Running from what I live for... Lost in a whirlwind of emotions. I'm a candle, flickering, burning... Trying to stay above the hot wax, Which melts when I shine my light. My light helps others see the way, But it doesn't help me. Emotions heated by my light melt around me. Suffocating, constricting, drowning... My desire to push back the shadows of darkness, Have only made the darkness loom nearer. One day I'll give in to the pool of hot wax. It waits, silently climbing higher, Until it finally conquers me... A thin trail of smoke... Just a memory of who I once was.
