PRAYER IN A HAZE

A mind state of peaceful confusion,  put the state of New York on the map. Even though concerned citizens told  Abbie Hoffman, "We don't give a crap!" They clearly told our leader,  'The Lenin of the Flower Children' "Abbie take your party elsewhere,  and don't come around here, again." He went upstate with the great bands.  Sounds of unconscious volition. With the musical art fair they called  'An Antiquarian Exposition.' Hippies in pastel colored vans appeared  dancing to Crosby, Stills and Nash. Bikers on choppers arrived also in mass  toting beer, wine, woman and stash. The yippies all so loveable in skimmpy  light, fluffy-floral dresses. Danced topless to The Kinks and The Who,  wore flowers in their long pretty tresses. Purple music of haze flowed-injected,   in protesting but peace-loving bones. By Jethro Tull, Joe Croker, along with  Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. Ike and Tina Turner, Richie Havens,  Laura Byro, Wyman and Janis Joplin, Took turns rock'n on stage and rolled  non-stop, just jamm'n and hopp'n. A love-in of peace or protest of rebellion?  After three stunning, smoke-filled days, Left a nation in shock of Woodstock's  peaceful march, through a pickled haze. Not one of us were a draft dodger yet,  Ah but, those were the days, my friend. No one there yet, a discharged Vietnam vet,  so we prayed in unison the war would end.

Additional Notes:
For those that may or not remember, when Abbie Hoffman organized this three day event, he advertised it to be 'An Antiquarin Exposition' to be held in Wallkill, NY. His oppositon there, the CCC (Concerned Citizen Committee) ran him out, believing he was a communist and referred to him as 'The Lenin of The Flower Children.' He and the bands moved upstate a few miles and held the event in an understanding farmer's field. Ah yes, those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end!!!
