In This World

In this world                           we have no curves.                          Our lives are straight                           and angular.                          There are no soft corners                           of indefinite sway,                           like the back of a horse,                           the thigh of a body we love.                          Turn.                          And we turn.                          Straight and narrow,                           without lingering.                          And last.                          At last.                          Without memory.
