The Poet Smiles

Outside the west wind is  humming, its branches tap at my window as by candlelight the poems of Su Tung P'o rest lightly upon my soul. In the chair beside me a silhouette reclines, engaged in the solving of needlepoint puzzles. Her hair  turns towards me. Silently my book closes, my wife's robe opens. Su Tung smiles.

Additional Notes:
Su Tung P'o (1036-1101) is generally considered one of China's greatest poets; certainly one of my favorites.
