Gift of a Child You came into my life - Unexpectedly, Without warning, Taking me by plesant surprise. Your life stirring within me - Burgeoning, Taking shape, Becoming whole in your existence. As you emerged into this world, I gazed into your eyes and saw love - Absolute, Unconditional, The utmost gift bestowed upon me from God. As I held you in my arms, I felt complete, Unadulterated, Tranquil, The warm softness of your body close to mine. As you grew, I looked at you and saw Reflection, A mirror image, Yet, an individual entity with it's own perspective. It is within this endowment I find - Harmony, Understanding, And most of all, Myself. |
Additional Notes:
My son showed up unannounced yesterday from 3 states away. Being Easter I immediately began to reflect on the birth of my children. This poem is the result of that visit. To my children, I Love You!
