arpeggio

the chorale encloses us  in crowded harmony i cannot separate  my voice from the rest when the chorus becomes large enough there is no longer reason to mouth the words there is a calm now, a stillness we are living in the space between cymbals waiting for the conductor to move her arm in a signal that is inevitable  but ultimately humane  we are always and forever strangers distant except for the music touching us in new places and the intense scent of eternity  whetting  the air with  bitter almond and rue
