To Let You Go

I shared years of my life with you I became a part of you I lost myself in you But now I must part from you Now that it's time to let you go Time to set you free To tear apart the you from me Confusion intertwines with pain It makes me want to run to you again For I know nothing but you and me And I fear the only me I know you have caused me pain Have hurt me again and again I feel the fool, to feel this way I should relish this separation day My inner strength to you I'll show And in the end I'll let you go To be strong enough to stay away To face the world alone this day Strong enough to let you go To place you in God's hands....and let you go.

Additional Notes:
This poem won Honorable Mention and was published in an anthology by the Iliad Press. Later I found this was not as great of an Honor as I thought but the poem meant alot to me because I wrote it after ending an 16 year relationship that was abussive and destructive. I was very proud of the poem.
