My Far Away Friend Although not here, he cheers me up, Won't allow me to lie, too long in the dust. He knows many ways to get me to smile, And helps me to see my life, is worthwhile. "There's a new dawn with each day," he likes to say. Even if I can't quite see it that way. There are times he allows me, to fight for him, So I will forget how hard, my life has been. I get to be, his 'Knight', for a change. Make him smile, and save his day. I have never seen him, nor know his voice, But he is one, I know by choice. Seeing his name on my screen makes me smile. For, away with him, I'll escape for awhile. |
Additional Notes:
I have a dear friend in England that is also a poet and we met, because he emailed me about one of my poems he read on a web site. We are very close and I think the world of him. Although he could be standing in front of me and unless the bond we share is so close that I feel him, I would never know it was he. Isn't it grand the way we can share friendships and become close via email. Thank you for reading my work.
