Obstacles

Many trails I've traveled down,   in the springtime month of May. Often finding Nature's obstacles,   in my path along the way. Like the time I tumbled, tripped by   what I thought to be a fallen limb. Then lying eye to eye with a Blue Racer,   was relieved my stare frightened him. Then one morning, a fat mama coon   stood in my way, she snarled and sassed. Insisting I find a detoured path,   she refused to let me get past. Then the morning I crested the hilltop,   where a hen turkey clucked and whined. I saw two toms push and shove each other,   with knobbled necks all intertwined. There also was the morning,   I came wading 'round the riverbend. A huge black bear jumped to his feet,   as my sparse hairs sprang up on end. Also the time I walked along,   and heard the faint tiny infant cry. To witness mama doe give newbirth,   and lick white spots on her baby dry. I watched the pair of Eagles   soaring to and from their nest. A sure display of freedom and    Mother Nature at her very best. Had I not gone out those May mornings,   I hate to think what I'd have missed. In spite of obstacles of Mother Nature,   My eyes blessed, my mind so kissed.

Additional Notes:
I don't find 'knobbled' in my Websters, but I like it and no word could ever describe the pimply-warts along the neck and head of a turkey 'gobbler' as it changes in it's varied (white, red & blue) spring colors during mating season any better. What a sight as two mature toms (in all their beauty mixed in ugliness) fight over a lonely old hen!!!
