Ode to a Child

Childish laughs … playing in sand Is it a castle with a moat you plan? Mother and father proud of their child, Even though he’s a little wild Questioning life, searching for clues Not knowing the difference between win or lose Couldn’t care less if you’re black or white Much less if sure of being wrong or right At the beach the imagination is free A landing … a war … a seagull … a bee! A castle steeped in all its wealth Sea shell walls, a moat its stealth With a child’s mind dreams still come true Today I am a king!  Yesterday I flew! My castle adorned, moat is now full King of a sand castle … with the seashell walls.
