BEAUTY

If what you seek is physical perfection Don't look in my direction For my outer beauty is nothing to behold As a cover girl, I would not cause millions to be sold For my eyes are quite ordinary And the lines beneath their depth  Were increased by laughter  Or too much sorrow If your aim is to climb the social ladder of fame Then perhaps you should cultivate  The friendship of someone whose endeavor is the same At the risk of being crude My ambition does not include Being revered in living color On a neon sign! Nor do I need to be wined and dined from dusk till dawn Only to be reduced to the stature of a pawn. But, If your goal is to find a comrade soul With the same yearning as your own For compassion and respect Who wants to communicate and protect Then look no further I'm the one you're looking for Enter my open door!                                  (c)
