#4 On Your Marks, Get Set, Grow

Have I grown? When I was young, my grandmother marked a place on the closet door frame so I could tell. Progression of pencil marks up the wall. Dates written beside. I just backed up against the wall, held my hand over my head and then tried to wiggle around to see if my hand was higher than the old mark. If so, Granny marked anew. When I checked everyday, I was always disappointed. I grew too slowly. maybe my standards were too tall, maybe my patience too short. The closet was sold many years ago. Now, how do I judge; have I grown? Do I use friends, religion, social  position, money, family. I think I know. The key is not to use something that may be temporary and disappear like the closet. But the key is not the answer, so I think I'll hold my hand over my head and wiggle around. Excuse me while I make a judgement.
