Tome Of Pain

Hidden in inner mist An isle within the soul Illusions of reality A tome of mortal toil An abstract quill records Etching epochal disdain Echoes of the crossing Knowledge that sustains Wisdom teaches reasoning Not all that hurts is pain Writings from the journey The inner isle explained Contentment is not found In life there is no gain Until we in exodus know Love origins birth in pain

Additional Notes:
Disdain a metaphor implying most of us do not like pain. I realize I used "pain" in the third and fourth stanzas. I could not think of another word without losing the meaning. Any suggestions?
